RIDING THE WAVES OF GLORY    PART 4

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified”- Romans 8:29-30.

According to scriptures and  right from the beginning of the month , it has been said that every child of God has a glorious destiny  and our journey as believers should culminate in glory. However, this glory will remain elusive without the operation  of the Spirit of God , as the Holy Spirit is the one that facilitates   our experience of the glory of God . The manifestation of the Spirit of God is for us to experience profiting in life. (Romans 8:29-30, 2 Corinthians 3:18, 1Corinthians 12:7)

Manifestations of the Spirit

  1. The Spirit of Dedication:

This Spirit helps us to be committed to God, His Kingdom and to every good course, because dedication is the secret behind distinction. Whatever you are not dedicated to, you cannot be distinguished in. A student who lacks dedication is easily lost in the crowd and cannot stand out.

Dedication to God is number one, because "except the Lord builds the house they labour in vain that build it", and "without me you will  do nothing", This truth is reiterated when the Bible says, "by strength shall no man prevail". So, it is dedication to God first. Mark 4:30-33 gives an illustration with the mustard seed, which is the least of all the seeds. In that tiny seed lies a great tree on which many birds find succour. Be that as it may, the seed has to die first - give itself in total dedication - to achieve that greatness (John 12:24).

We cannot be more fruitful in any area than the level of dedication. In verses 25 and 26 of John 12, Jesus says if any man serves me like this, if any man will follow my pattern and be dedicated to God, him will my Father honour. This is where many miss it; they do not want to suffer the heat of the sun as a seed. Until you are first messed up by  the soil, your glory (the glory of the seed) will never appear. The seed has to die, it has to decay before life can come out of it. It is that process that many dodge or avoid because they want instant gratification and overnight results.

However, you need to be empowered in order to be dedicated. Dedication is the secret to the rise of Giants in the kingdom.  That is why Jesus said in John 10:17-18, "I have power to lay it down, - to remain dedicated, power beyond himself. We need such power beyond ourselves that is why we call it the Spirit of dedication. Dedication is being dead to self and alive to God,  it is planting your life as a  seed.

  1. The Spirit of Guidance:

The Spirit of God guides us from things of shame to the issues of glory, from poverty to abundance. Jesus showed us the way and afterwards, handed us over to the Holy Spirit to guide us to our destination in life . It is one thing to know your destination and quite another to know the way. In John 16:12 Jesus said, "I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now -  He continued by saying, "howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth..." He will guide us into liberty,  sound health, he will guide us on what to do to enjoy long life, he will guide us into having supernatural accomplishment. He will guide us into financial freedom and freedom from all sickness; he will guide us to freedom from satanic oppression. "...whatsoever he shall hear, that he shall speak: and he will shew you things to come."

Why do I need the Spirit of Guidance?

By the operation of this Spirit in your life;

  • You will not be a victim of professional prophet, neither will you be spiritually blind. This is the Spirit that guided Isaac and Jacob from poverty into greatness (Deuteronomy 32:9-10). Isaiah 48:17 tells us that God is the one who teaches us to prosper, and takes us by our hand. That is practical guidance (Isaiah 48:21).
  • We also need this Spirit to be able to distinguish between the way that seems right, and the right way (Proverbs 14:12).
  • When you are being guided, you will have everything you need- Psalm 23:1.
  1. The Spirit of Boldness: The Spirit that empowers us for supernatural boldness.

This spirit empowers us to go forward in the face of threat and fear  and helps us to make bold declarations. No matter your intercession, prayers and years of waiting on the Lord, what you declare after you have prayed is what determines divine intervention. After your intercessions and supplications, you have to be empowered to declare what you have not even seen. (Acts 14:3)

Again, it is not just what you say, but how you say it. You do not just speak you do it boldly and loudly. Bold declaration also means making your boast in the Lord. In Psalms 34:2, David, the one who never lost any battle, said, "my soul shall make her boast in the Lord..." You are not boasting in yourself, but in your God and those who boast in their God shall be boosted by Him. It was by bold declaration and boasting in the Lord that David brought down Goliath (1 Samuel 17 : 45-50).

Let us remember that God confirms what we declare and that whatever is too big for our mouth to declare openly and boldly, is also, too big for our hands to handle.

However, our declarations must be based on the word of God. For instance, you are entitled to sound health, you declare: I am entitled to sound health on two fronts: One, by redemption, I am entitled. He took my sickness, the same way he took my sin.

Two, as a reward for my stewardship - I serve God in prayers, fasting and in reaching out to souls...He said, I shall serve and He will bless, and take away sickness. So on these two fronts it is illegal for sickness to stay in my body. So I can boldly and openly declare that, sickness you are out of my body today!

And as you are declaring that, God gets excited and begins to make it happen for you. Psalm 81:10 says, open your mouth wide and I will fill it and the Bible says, let the weak say I am strong,  So it is bold declarations that moves the hand of God against your enemies. Poverty, sickness, stagnation and oppression are all enemies. Boldness is not absence of fear; it is simply moving towards your fear and speaking against it. It takes the Spirit of God to make bold declarations, especially in the face of fear and opposition. That is why you need to covet it on a regular basis.

COVENANT OF SETTLEMENT

In 1st Peter 5:10, the Bible says, "God of all grace who has called us unto eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen,  settle you."

What do we mean by settlement?

Settlement means to be free from concern, struggles, sufferings. It means to have peace and live amicably. You must understand that God is a covenant keeper, who has vowed to settle us and end our suffering, weakness and shame. But there is what we must do for  Him to move. Psalm 89:34 tells us that Jehovah will not alter His covenant.

Terms For Settlement

  1. You must return fully to God: If you must be settled by Him. Our fight with, and blames for God must come to an end.(Proverbs20:18).

Anyone who is not born again lives under the force of unsettlement and darkness and the agents of spiritual unsettlement make their abode in such a person. But, according to Colossians 1:13, when we become born again we are translated. That is why we need to settle with God and bridge the gap between us and Him. Belong fully to God and avoid serving other gods (Psalm 16:5). When you are challenged, rather than run away from God, run to Him, for He is the God of all settlement.

In Luke 15:17-24 the prodigal son left home but the day he returned he was settled.  He was like a beggar when he left, eating with pigs but the same day he returned his father received him and the  issue of lack and want was settled.

2.You must be planted in the house of God: God's house is the place of settlement and  every blessing of life is available in Zion (Obadiah 1:17, Psalm 132:13-17). If you want rest in every area of life, settle down in the house of God and be planted...be a stakeholder, a resident, not a visitor.

The Bible says, they that be planted in the house of the Lord shall grow like the palm tree, they shall flourish like the cedar in Lebanon. Many want to flourish but they are mobile trees and no mobile tree will ever produce fruit. We must therefore be planted in the place where the word of God is.

  1. You must pray for your desired settlement as men and women did in Bible days. Jacob (Genesis 32:24-28), a man always on the run, was left alone one day and he wrestled with God in prayers saying, "I will not let you go until you bless me...." His name was changed from Jacob (the cheat) to Israel (the prince)

Hannah and Jabez also settled their cases on the altar of prayer.

The forces of faith, prayer and fasting have the ability to subdue every form of unsettlement and so, dodging all of these things is dodging your settlement.

In conclusion, you cannot be a successful Christian without a prayer life and you cannot run a thriving and flourishing business or career without an effective prayer life because there are powers that will stand against you. It is not your skill or expertise that makes you a success, it is the spiritual elements backing these areas of your life that bring about success. Prayer is the platform on which we receive power to reign and rule, in spite of oppositions

Your 'Peter' - breakthrough  will be remain in prison without prayers.

Christians must develop a lifestyle of prayers (Acts 12:5) and embrace the hardness of the faith for settlement to be delivered.
