OVERCOMING THE FORCES THAT STAND AGAINST THE FULFILMENT OF PROPHECIES
Spirituality is "scripturality" Someone is said to be spiritual when he is aligning to the demands of scriptures (John 6:63, Isaiah 34:16).
God's word is His spirit and so, scriptures are spirit. When we conduct our lives in line with scriptures, we are said to be spiritual and doing otherwise makes us worldly, ungodly.
We are familiar with the story of Abraham who became a symbol of generational blessings by believing the word of prophecy that God spoke to him. At the age of seventy-five God prophesied to a man who had no child and who was squatting in his father’s house as a married man. (Genesis 12:1-4)
But Abraham obeyed the word of God which was contrary to the physical things around him. He obeyed at every point, and at the end, God blessed him in all things (Genesis 17:9-27, 22:1-18).
So, just like Abraham we must not allow things around us to tamper with our believe in the prophetic word that God has spoken to us, either from scriptures or from His messengers, who are also His voice (Amos 3:7).
Although prophecies are meant to come to pass, there are little foxes that may hinder us from taking delivery of them (Songs of Solomon 2:15).
Let us consider three of these little foxes.
- Unbelief: Unbelief is evil, makes evil out of us and makes us depart from the ways and words of God (Hebrews 3:12). Only faith brings good things and that is why faith is a must. By it we stand and live, but by unbelief we die; businesses, careers, relationships etc, all die without faith (Habakkuk 2:4, 2nd Peter 1:19).
Also, faith makes us righteous before God (Romans 4:20. You may not steal, kill or fornicate but if you refuse to belief what God says in His word, it makes Him see you as a wicked person because unbelief is insulting to Him. It is a way of saying God is not capable of doing what He says. That was why He made Zachariah dumb. Remember the minister in 2nd Kings 7? When the prophet of God declared that abundance would replace insufficiency, his response was "how can that be, even if God opens the windows of heaven..." That's unbelief. He questioned God's integrity and paid dearly for it. Therefore, keep your hearts with all diligence...be ye steadfast, holding firmly to the prophecies of God.
- Hopelessness: Hopelessness is evil, brings misfortune and causes us to miss treasures. No one ever gets to a higher level in life if they are hopeless and you must understand that as a believer, you can never have a closed case. In Job 14:7-9 the bible says ....there is still hope for a tree, even if it be cut down that it will sprout again. We are spiritual trees of righteousness, so even if you have experienced setbacks, delays or frustrations you will smile, laugh and prosper again. No matter what you have lost or how things have been, keep your hope alive because your case can never be closed. We learn from Ecclesiastes 9:4 that a living dog is better than a dead lion. So long as there is life, there is hope.
We must keep hope alive; God can change anyone's story in just a split of a second. Joseph slept as a prisoner one night but found himself in the palace the next day (1st Peter 1:3). Never lose hope because when you do, faith is gone (Hebrews 11:1). Lazarus had been buried for four days, already stinking. Everything about him had packed up and when Jesus came, Martha said "....Lord if you had been here my brother would not have died." But Jesus told her not to worry because whenever God appears on a scene, it is the right time, He is never late. Jesus called Lazarus out of the grave and Lazarus came forth.
- Misuse of The Tongue: ...Suffer not your mouth to cause your flesh to sin, neither say thou before the angel, it was an error wherefore should God be angry at thy voice and destroy the work of thy hands (Ecclesiastes 5:6). With words of the mouth a person can destroy a life time of efforts. Somebody may have been serving God, investing and labouring for the kingdom since January and by December, when it looks like nothing is happening, he declares the year over, even before the 31st by saying "the year is over, I'm just waiting for next year." Now, with that statement, he has set fire to all efforts of the year. The bible says, ...the tongue is a fire...., it goes further to say, ...how a little fire kindles a great forest... A little spark of fire can burn down an entire edifice. God does not know joke; whatever you say, whether carefully or carelessly will work. A man will be held responsible for every idle word that he speaks (Matthew 12:36-37). So mind your words because they can kill your business, relationship, etc. Many people have killed their marriages with wrong words; many are destroying the future of their children with wrong words.
Words are seeds. When a man tells his wife "I regret marrying you", he is destroying the marriage without knowing it. In every sphere of life there are forbidden words. Never say you do not have money. You may not see it physically but your heaven account is loaded because the bible says, God has blessed you with all things in heavenly places and He is not a man that He should lie, neither the son of man that He should repent. Do not speak against yourself. The bible says, "Let the weak say I am strong....When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up..." In this family we do not use the words 'drop' or 'reduction', we don't say what we see, but what we want to see and because of that, we keep seeing what we say... "As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you...(Numbers 14:28). You have to keep saying what you want to see. Abraham kept saying it, not considering the deadness of his body or that of Sarah's womb. He was fully persuaded that what God had spoken would come to pass.
